Operating since 2004, Assetinsure is focused on delivering innovative insurance / finance solutions across a wide and growing number of insurance lines. Assetinsure primarily operates in Australia and New Zealand however has a global footprint across South Africa, the UK and Europe through related Group companies. We manage a diverse portfolio of products for insurance, Bonds and credit enhancement that we support directly. Our Risk Partner business is managed through the relevant agency structures.

We are seeking a highly proficient Business Analyst with specialised knowledge in B2B insurance products and hands-on experience in large-scale Finance transformation projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in analysing complex business requirements, and identifying opportunities for business improvement (including process, systems and technology) as well as data enhancement. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement effective technical solutions aligned with our business objectives.

This position offers fantastic opportunities to work with experienced and knowledgeable industry experts on multiple business improvement initiatives in the Finance space. The successful candidate will:

  • Have a deep understanding of the improvement framework, and excellent problem-solving skills (including defining, measuring, designing solutions, executing and sustaining change)
  • Have exceptional communication skills in listening, empathising, summarising and providing feedback
  • Be self-motivated with hands-on project experience, and focused on driving transformation, managing change, and facilitating delivery
  • Be invigorated by solving complex business problems and navigating the art of stakeholder engagement and the science of analysis.

The key responsibilities will be…

  • Work with the business experts to define, measure and analyse business problems
  • Conduct thorough analysis of existing systems, processes, and data workflows, identifying areas for optimisation and improvement
  • Work within a squad that will design, develop and implement technical solutions that align with business needs while considering regulatory compliance and industry best practices
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis, validation, and reporting to support informed decisionmaking and provide valuable business insights
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as business leaders and SMEs, Solution Architects, IT teams and Risk & Compliance teams to analyse and understand business requirements, and influence and co-design solutions
  • Offer technical expertise, guidance, and support to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Lead and facilitate workshops
  • Create and prioritise user stories around requirements, specifications and benefits, and develop and validate business cases
  • Participate in testing, validation, and quality assurance processes to ensure the robustness and functionality of developed solutions
  • Produce insights by extracting and analysing financial or/and operations data
  • Present findings and recommendations to key stakeholders and maintain effective communication channels
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in financial risk management to recommend innovative solutions and enhancements
  • Maintain knowledge of technical business analysis best practices, standards, and consistency in driving changes

  • Proven track record as an experienced Business Analyst within the insurance industry, specifically focusing on finance transformation, and familiarity with Finance data
  • Analytical and critical thinking in uncovering root causes at speed and with clarity
  • Map and visualise business processes and identify opportunities for improvements
  • Strong understanding of Lean Six Sigma Framework, Business Process Management and other business improvement methodologies, tools and techniques
  • Intermediate to advanced skills across the MS tech stack, especially Excel and PowerPoint, as well as slide deck presentation skills and exposure to project management tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Understanding of Finance data and databases
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Knowledge of implementation and configuration approaches of enterprise systems such as accounting systems
  • Stamina and perseverance in working through challenges, under pressure and with competing priorities
  • Self-motivated, customer-centric and enjoy a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and align expectations
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks efficiently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting project deadlines.

The experience required is…

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst ideally with hands on experience from inception to successful delivery of Finance Transformation initiatives
  • Strong agile mindset, delivering value fast in a continuous and iterative fashion
  • Experience in the capacity of consulting (highly desirable)
  • Insurance domain knowledge an advantage but not necessary
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Technology or other related field (Finance, Engineering, Economics, Accounting, etc.)
