SYDNEY, March 30, 2005. Assetinsure, an Australian owned insurance company, announced today that it will support a new specialist underwriting agency, Healthcare Underwriting Agency with immediate effect.
Healthcare Underwriting Agency is dedicated to providing Medical Malpractice and General Liability insurance for the private health sector in Australia, including private hospitals.
Michael Waits has been recruited by Healthcare Underwriting Agency to be its specialist underwriter. He has been in the Medical Malpractice market for the past 10 years both with an Australian Insurer and more recently with a Lloyd’s Coverholder.
As a result of the new partnership, Healthcare Underwriting Agency will team up with Assetinsure, a company supported by Australian shareholders committed to service the local market. Launching into the healthcare segment of the professional indemnity class of business forms part of Assetinsure’s overall strategy of being a specialist underwriter for corporate and professional risks.
Healthcare Underwriting Agency and its clients will enjoy the support of leading global reinsurers, who have demonstrated their interest in providing expertise to the Australian Medical Malpractice market. Previously hospitals and other organisations seeking healthcare cover had no alternative but to look for insurance offshore. Now Healthcare Underwriting Agency will provide a local alternative.
